About the opportunity
WorkSafe’s Strategic Communications team works with the organisation’s business units and executive leadership to plan and execute communications that support strategic objectives and change.
The Senior Communications Advisor provides expert advice and supports the Manager, Strategic Communications in the delivery of effective communications that drive change and align with WorkSafe’s broader marketing and communications strategies.
This is a hands-on role, working with the Return to Work Victoria (RTWV) business unit to develop and deliver internal and external communications strategies that create awareness, support organisational change and promote Return to Work’s initiatives to employers, injured workers and the community.
This position will be a highly impactful role, supporting us to achieve our strategic objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide expert internal and external communications advice and support for organisational programs and projects, helping them to promote their objectives, and manage change.
- Collaborate with RTWV, project managers and change teams to plan, develop and implement internal and external communications strategies and content in a range of digital and non-digital formats.
- Work across divisions to ensure project-focussed communications align and integrate into WorkSafe’s broader internal and external marketing and communications strategies.
- Identify and managing reputational issues, risks and opportunities, providing support to the Manager, Strategic Communications, the Communications team and across the business.
- Provide proactive and responsive strategic and tactical communications advice.

About you
Your strong written communication skills and the ability to present issues and messages clearly to a range of audience is key to the success of this position.
Amongst your key strengths is your ability to build effective working relationships, with highly developed influencing and negotiation skills.
In addition you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience planning and executing multiple end to end strategic communications plans to support complex internal and external projects and the implementation of change, whilst managing reactive communications requests
- Ability to think strategically and synthesise material and issues to develop a clear narrative, key messages and persuasive presentations for senior executives
- Strong written communications skills and excellent working knowledge of a large range of digital and face-to-face engagement tools and techniques.
- Significant, demonstrated experience in a similar role in a complex and fast-paced strategic environment
- Strong ability to plan and manage workflow with excellent attention to detail
- Experience in internal change communications highly regarded
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in PR, Communications, Journalism (or related field) and a minimum of five years’ related experience required.
