Operations Assessment Officer - Arboriculture

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced arboriculture professional to play a key role in supporting Council's urban forest assets through assessing customer requests, delivering specialist advice, and supporting the effective management of Council's tree assets.

About the Position

Reporting to the Team Leader Operations Assessment, you will be responsible for triaging and assessing customer requests related to arboriculture and ensuring appropriate action is taken in line with Council policies and service standards.

The role involves a balance of field inspections and office-based assessment work, where you will provide technical advice, assess tree health and risk, and contribute to the efficient delivery of arboriculture services across the community along with managing Council's tree asset data to support our growing urban forest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake tree audits, document and record outcomes as required
  • Undertake regular/scheduled audits to ensure all arboriculture works are in accordance with Councils policy and procedures.
  • Provide specialist advice to key stakeholders on Arboriculture matters.
  • Provide technical advice to contribute to the assessment of development applications where relevant.
  • Provide specialist advice in the development and monitoring of with tree protection programs.
  • Diagnose tree pests, diseases, and structural features
  • Provide specialist advice in the development and monitoring of with tree protection programs.
  • Contribute to asset management data and service improvements

About You

You are an experienced and enthusiastic arboriculture professional who combines strong technical knowledge with a customer-focused approach. Holding a Diploma in Arboriculture you will demonstrate:

  • Sound technical expertise relevant to arboriculture
  • High level customer service and well-established communication skills
  • Ability to make sound, evidence-based decisions
  • Effective and flexible problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong time management and organisational abilities
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to service excellence
  • Sound skills in plant identification

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Diploma in Arboriculture (AQF Level 5) - essential
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence
  • Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card)
  • Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) / Work Zone Traffic Management (WTZM) ticket
  • Proven experience in arboriculture and tree management.
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical and national police check.

Salary range is between $95,585 and $101,950 plus superannuation guarantee and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, experience and qualifications.
