About Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.

This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

We are seeking physiotherapists that are passionate about the management and holistic care of acute stroke patients. This casual Grade 2 opportunity aligns with Eastern Health’s recently launched 7-day model of care for Stroke patients at Box Hill Hospital with funding to support a Stroke Acute Rehabilitation Team (StART). This innovative service aims to optimise patient outcomes by providing early assessment and intervention for stroke patients, including providing early rehabilitation for those awaiting transfer to a subacute rehabilitation site. Working in partnership with the award-winning acute stroke multidisciplinary team, StART seeks to enhance patient flow and support high-acuity care by commencing timely, evidence-based rehabilitation interventions.

About you

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy and current registration with the Australian Physiotherapy Board.

Clinical experience in acute stroke care including sound knowledge of stroke clinical practice guidelines relevant to acute stroke care.

The ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a diverse weekend multidisciplinary team.

High level interpersonal skills and capability of demonstrating leadership in the context of working within a multidisciplinary team.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
