In June 2025, oversight of Queensland Hydro was transferred to Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC). What You'll Do
We are seeking a Project Engineer - Geotechnical who will be exposed to planning and support the onsite delivery of the geotechnical investigation works for the Borumba Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) project. Reporting to the Project Manager Geotech you will be responsible for the technical aspects of the project including the development, implementation and control of project cost, schedule, safety and technical documentation along with other project management related duties.
The nature of the position requires you to be available to work an 8/6 site-based roster.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders;
- Take responsibility for developing project scope elements including but not limited to - scoping, planning, scheduling, budgeting, monitoring performance of various work packages or elements;
- Support safety and quality programs;
- Conduct on-site safety and progress inspections to ensure work and scope standards are met;
- Procurement and administrative support (reporting, document reviews, etc) as required;
- Support implementation of quality management requirements for geotechnical works including identifying, raising and reviewing RFIs and NCRs.
Who You Are
To be successful in this position, you will have a degree in Civil Engineering / Environmental Engineering - Geotech or Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology / Geology / Earth Sciences with a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience as a Project Engineer. Your site experience supervising or managing geotechnical drilling and investigation works is highly desirable. In addition, and to ensure your success you will have:
- Construction Industry White Card and a current Class 'C' driver's licence.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and Australian standards.
- Working knowledge on Scheduling with preference for Primavera P6.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Enthusiasm towards learning, including geotechnical and civil construction activities.
- Strong technical report writing with clear verbal communication skills.
- Awareness of health and safety, commercial and contractual risks.
