State Sales Manager - SA & NT

The State Manager – Retail Sales (SA and NT) plays a key role in driving the growth of MetLife Australia’s Retail Insurance business by developing high‑value distribution partnerships and expanding our presence across the South Australian market. Guided by our purpose — always with you, building a more confident future — and our New Frontier strategy, this role focuses on building strong adviser relationships, increasing market share and delivering sustainable, profitable growth.

As a member of the Retail Sales leadership group, you will shape how MetLife goes to market locally, working closely with licensee partners, advisers and internal stakeholders to grow the retail portfolio and enhance our customer offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business growth by identifying, developing and securing high‑value distribution partnerships across South Australia.
  • Develop and execute sales plans, increasing awareness and usage of MetLife’s retail insurance offering among advisers and licensee groups.
  • Build and maintain strong industry relationships, including key advisers, licensees and industry bodies, to strengthen MetLife’s brand and market presence.
  • Lead and coordinate sales activity, providing guidance and direction to maximise performance and support business expansion in the region.
  • Provide market insights and feedback, contributing to product development, customer experience improvements and go‑to‑market strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar sales or distribution role within the financial services or life insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of retail insurance products, distribution channels and market dynamics.
  • Proven ability to build and manage high‑value adviser and licensee relationships.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities and drive profitable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, influence and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels.
  • Comfort using AI‑enabled and digital productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft 365 Copilot or similar) to support efficient work outcomes, with sound judgement and adherence to organisational policies, governance and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Business, Marketing, Communications or similar).
  • RG146 accreditation and/or industry‑related qualifications.
  • Established network within the South Australian financial advice and insurance market.
  • Experience contributing to national sales strategy or leadership forums.
