Senior Electrical Engineer – Generation

If you've built your career around power generation and enjoy solving complex technical problems, this is the sort of role that doesn't come along very often.

I'm partnering with a major energy organisation that operates a diverse mix of generation assets across Western Australia. With a growing focus on renewable integration and asset optimisation, they're looking for an experienced Electrical Specialist to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of thermal and renewable generation assets.

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: East Perth

Length: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: $185,500 inclusive of Super

The Role

This is a senior engineering position focused on the performance, reliability and lifecycle management of generation assets. You'll provide specialist support across diesel and gas generation, battery energy storage systems, solar, wind and hybrid microgrids, helping ensure assets are operating safely, efficiently and reliably. Regular travel to regional WA sites will form part of the position.

Working closely with operations, engineering and asset management teams, you'll play a key role in troubleshooting issues, supporting major maintenance activities and guiding longer-term asset strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex fault finding, technical investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Develop and support asset lifecycle and maintenance strategies.
  • Monitor asset performance and identify opportunities for improvement and risk reduction.
  • Provide engineering oversight during commissioning and major maintenance activities.
  • Support the integration and optimisation of renewable and conventional generation technologies
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to improve operational performance and reliability.

Key Experience

  • Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer or equivalent industry experience
  • Demonstratable background in power generation, microgrids, utilities, mining or industrial energy environments.
  • Experience with diesel and gas generation assets, control systems and protection systems.
  • Exposure to renewables, battery storage or hybrid power systems would be highly regarded.
  • Proven capability in commissioning, asset management, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
  • Comfortable working independently while engaging effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.

Why This Role?

There are plenty of engineering roles around. Not many offer the opportunity to work across diesel, gas, solar, wind, battery storage and hybrid power systems within the one portfolio. This is a chance to influence how generation assets are managed today while contributing to the transition of regional energy systems into the future.

On top of that, you'll join an organisation that offers genuine flexibility, additional leave benefits, volunteer leave, wellbeing initiatives and a supportive working environment that gives experienced engineers the autonomy to make an impact.
