Chief Executive Officer

Hoffmann Reed

Grow communities where best lives are lived.

Are you the leader to translate this vision into strategy and build an organisation capable of delivering it for generations to come?

Southern Cross Care Queensland is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through its next stage of strategic renewal, growth, and long-term impact.

This is a significant leadership opportunity for an accomplished executive to build on a strong organisational platform, honour a deeply held mission, and shape the future of a respected, values-led care organisation operating across Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria.

About Southern Cross Care Queensland

Hoffmann Reed has been exclusively engaged by Southern Cross Care Queensland, a large and established provider of care, accommodation and support services.

Inspired by Catholic moral and social teachings, SCCQ’s mission is to value and respect human life by providing care and accommodation for people who place their trust in the organisation.

With operations across residential care, retirement living, and home care, SCCQ has a strong foundation in care, sound operational and financial settings, and a clear focus on the future.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for translating SCCQ’s vision into a clear, executable strategy and building the organisational capability required to deliver it over the long term.

The Board is seeking a leader who can preserve SCCQ’s core strengths while developing the strategic, financial, commercial, and leadership capacity required to sustain its mission in a changing environment.

This will require disciplined choices about where SCCQ can create the greatest value for older people, families and local communities. It will also require the confidence to look beyond the current operating paradigm of residential care, retirement living and home care, and position SCCQ as a contemporary, sustainable, and future-focused care organisation.

Key priorities will include

  • Translating SCCQ’s vision into a clear and compelling strategic direction.
  • Strengthening organisational capability, leadership depth, and performance.
  • Building the financial capacity to invest in the future.
  • Identifying where SCCQ can create distinctive value in a changing care market.
  • Leading transformation while maintaining trust in the organisation’s mission, history, and values.
  • Working closely with the Board to position SCCQ for long-term sustainability and impact.

About you

The ideal candidate will be a proven senior executive with experience leading large, complex, multi-site organisations in customer service environments.

You will bring strategic clarity, commercial judgement, and the ability to lead meaningful transformation. You will be comfortable making difficult decisions, aligning people around clear priorities, and building the capability and capacity required to deliver on them.

You will also bring the leadership maturity to engage confidently with a mission-led Board, workforce, stakeholders, and communities who care deeply about SCCQ’s purpose and legacy.

To be successful, you should demonstrate:

  • Senior executive experience in complex, service-oriented organisations.
  • A track record of leading transformation, growth, and organisational renewal.
  • Strong commercial, financial, and strategic capability.
  • The ability to build confidence, trust, and alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • The judgement to balance continuity, change, purpose, and performance.

Above all, the successful candidate will lead in a way that reflects SCCQ’s values of Service, Courage and Compassion.

This is a defining opportunity to lead a respected organisation with a meaningful mission, a strong platform, and the ambition to shape the future of care.
