About The Role

We are looking for a Business Development Manager who can build strong local relationships, identify opportunities and convert conversations into long-term commercial painting and maintenance projects. You will work across the greater Townsville region, developing new business within our key sectors, such as schools, hospitals, retirement villages, shopping centres and commercial property owners, while leveraging Higgins’ reputation, capability and national support network.

What Success Looks Like

• Building a strong local presence through networking, referrals, consistent follow-up and genuine engagement with decision-makers.
• Turning early conversations into site meetings, practical solutions, proposals and long-term customer relationships.
• Keeping a healthy pipeline moving with clear next steps, reliable CRM discipline and steady, relationship-based activity.
• Working with our operations teams to scope projects, prepare solution-based proposals and support a smooth handover when work is won

What You’ll Bring

• Experience in B2B sales, account management, business development or relationship-based selling.
• A practical, down-to-earth communication style and the confidence to engage with local business owners, property managers, facility managers and decision-makers.
• The ability to build trust over time through consistency, follow-up and genuine service.
• Comfort working independently across the region, supported by estimating, operations and leadership teams.
• Nice to have: experience in commercial painting, facilities maintenance, construction, building or similar industries.
