Mathematics Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training

About The Role

What if your deep expertise in mathematics could directly shape how AI reasons through the world's most complex problems? We're looking for Mathematics Researchers to develop, solve, and evaluate advanced mathematical problems that teach AI systems to think with genuine rigor and precision.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for mathematicians who want meaningful, intellectually engaging work — on their own schedule.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance
  • Apply your expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related areas to design rich, complex problem statements
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to strengthen AI model reasoning
  • Ensure mathematical rigor, clarity, and depth across every deliverable
  • Help set the standard for how AI understands and works through higher-level mathematics

Who You Are

  • Hold a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
  • Strong command of at least one of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
  • Experienced coding in Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica for research or applied projects
  • Exceptionally clear communicator — in writing and verbally — with a sharp eye for detail
  • Self-motivated and dependable when working independently without supervision
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or AI evaluation systems
  • Background in applied mathematics, computational research, or mathematical modeling
  • Familiarity with AI tools or training workflows as a practitioner or end user

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
  • Make a direct, tangible impact on how AI understands and applies advanced mathematics
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
