Commercial Analyst/Associate

The Commercial Analyst/Associate plays a critical role within an Equis-controlled platform, supporting commercial execution, transaction delivery, and asset management activities across the energy transition portfolio.

The role combines financial modelling, commercial analysis, and hands-on transaction support across assets from development through construction and into operations. The Commercial Analyst/Associate works closely with senior leadership to ensure assets are developed, financed, operated, and optimised in line with approved investment cases and Equis’ broader portfolio objectives.

This is a role suited to a commercially astute professional with strong analytical capability and experience operating in fast-moving, transaction-driven environments.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Essential

  • 2–4 years’ experience in a commercial, investment, or transaction role within:

o Big 4 (Deals, Infrastructure, Corporate Finance, Valuations), or

o Infrastructure or renewable energy platforms or developers.

  • Financial modelling skills, including project finance and investment models.
  • Experience supporting transactions, due diligence, and execution.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to interpret contracts, assess risk, and support decision-making.
  • Developed analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience across Infrastructure or renewable energy assets (e.g. BESS, wind, solar, grid-connected infrastructure).
  • Exposure to asset management, construction phase commercial management, or operational assets.
  • Experience working in lean, fast-growing development platforms.

Job Responsibilities

Commercial & Financial Analysis

  • Prepare complex, detailed financial models to support investment decisions, acquisitions, divestments, and refinancing activities.
  • Undertake quantitative and commercial analysis to assess project feasibility, risk, and return across development, construction, and operational assets.
  • Develop and maintain financial cases, sensitivities, scenarios, and valuation outputs for internal and external stakeholders.

Transaction Execution

  • Support deal execution including financial analysis, due diligence coordination, and transaction documentation.
  • Assist with debt processes, including lender engagement, information memoranda, and financial model reviews.
  • Work closely with legal, technical, tax, and external advisers throughout transaction processes.

Asset Management

  • Support asset management activities across the portfolio, including:

o Identifying and evaluating value-creation opportunities at asset level.

o Monitoring asset performance against original investment cases and financial models.

o Analysing operational, commercial, and market drivers impacting asset performance.

  • Provide commercial support to assets under development, construction and in operation, including contract interpretation, performance issues, and commercial decision-making.
  • Internal reporting for internal and external stakeholders including periodic asset management reports, funds flow memoranda and valuations.

Broader Business Support

  • Provide ad-hoc commercial and analytical support to senior professionals within the Melbourne office.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of modelling standards, templates, and commercial processes.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives as required in a lean, high-performance environment.
