The opportunity
We are seeking an Associate Director, Human Development to help lead and grow Tetra Tech’s Education practice. Working closely with the Practice Lead, Human Development you will support the delivery of sector strategy, strengthen client relationships, and help secure new business opportunities across international development markets.
In this role, you will contribute to business development, proposal strategy, client engagement, and project delivery. You will bring strong sector knowledge, commercial judgement, and a collaborative leadership style to help position Tetra Tech for success in a competitive market.

Key responsibilities
- Support the Practice Lead, Human Development in delivering sector strategy and the annual tactical plan.
- Lead business development activity, including client engagement, bid management, proposal development, and market positioning.
- Identify and pursue pre-qualified opportunities, develop proposal strategies, and contribute to pricing and staffing decisions.
- Manage and support large or complex projects through all stages of delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute technical expertise to proposals and deliverables, with a focus on education and related development themes.
- Lead and mentor teams, fostering collaboration, performance, and knowledge sharing.
- Monitor market trends and client priorities to inform opportunity development and sector growth.
About You
You are an experienced business development and project delivery professional with strong knowledge of education and international development. Ideally with over 10 years experience. You are commercially minded and strategically focused, you are confident working with senior stakeholders, leading complex pursuits, and contributing to high-quality technical outcomes.
You will also bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in a related area such as International Development, Education, Business Management or equivalent senior level experience.
- Demonstrated business development and bid management experience, preferably in international development.
- Experience leading or contributing to proposal development, pricing, and pursuit strategy.
- Strong project management experience across complex assignments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to lead teams, mentor others, and build a positive performance culture.
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to balance client needs, quality, and business objectives.
- Experience working across cross-cultural and international environments, highly regarded.
