What you will be doing & delivering
As the Assistant Accountant, you’ll be based at our Ravenhall site (3 days), and you’ll be supporting the Finance team in delivering accurate financial and operational reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring compliance with statutory and reporting obligations. The role contributes to efficient day-to-day finance operations and supports with month-end and year-end processes to support informed business decision-making within a fast-paced environment.
- General Ledger & Financial Accounting: Maintain the general ledger and ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Month-End & Reporting: Assist in the preparation of periodic management reports and variance analysis.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations on a periodic basis .
- Statutory Compliance & Taxation: Prepare and assist with the lodgement of BAS, IAS and other statutory returns. Support compliance with ATO and other regulatory requirements.
- Fixed Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciations schedules.
- Capex Proposal Management: Assist with the administration, tracking and governance of capital expenditure proposals.
- Production & Waste Reporting: Prepare and maintain production and waste reports.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Accounts Support and finance Operations: Assist with day-to-day operations including AP/AR support as required and respond to finance-related queries from internal stakeholders.

Here’s what will help you succeed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Commerce
- CA or CPA qualification (commenced or willingness to commence).
- 2+ years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role with exposure to statutory compliance including BAS, FBT, payroll tax and audit support
- Previous exposure to agriculture, FMCG, or operationally focused environments (highly regarded).
- Experience with general ledger maintenance and journal posting, as well as preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
- Responsibility for maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules preferred
Technical Skills
- Understanding of general accounting principles and Australian statutory obligations.
- Strong MS Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting system (Knowledge in SAP or Dynamics 365 advantageous).
- Comfortable leveraging modern technology to enhance financial visibility, automation, and decision-making.
- Working knowledge of collaboration and communication tools (e.g. MS Teams).
