Reporting to the Business Development Team Lead, you will contribute to supporting the development and progression of strategic growth opportunities that complement and expand the Mardie Salt Operation and Sulphate of Potash Project by providing specialist technical engineering expertise across various chemical processes.

We are rapidly progressing the Mardie Salt Operation and Potash Project (Mardie Operation), a tier 1 solar evaporation project that will supply high-purity industrial salt and sulphate of potash (SOP) for more than 60 years.
Mardie will be the largest salt operation in Australia and the third largest globally. With first salt on ship on track to be achieved early 2027, BCI Minerals is just at the beginning of its journey to become a key player in a multitude of globally significant sustainable opportunities.

The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Chemical Engineer to join our Business Development team to supports BCI’s dedicated cross-functional Business Development team by providing specialist technical process engineering expertise across various chemical processes.
The role is focused on assessing future business opportunities, process technologies, production optimisation initiatives, and development concepts associated with BCI’s current and potential product suite. This includes evaluating new production routes, product specifications, and regulatory compliance pathways, as well as supporting feasibility assessments, technical due diligence, process modelling, laboratory and production data interpretation, risk identification, and the preparation of technical inputs for investment papers and Executive and Board decision-making.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- 5 years+ experience in process engineering, project development, technical evaluation, or strategic development within resources, mining, chemicals, infrastructure, or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of inorganic chemical processes including crystallisation, evaporation, brine processing, halogen chemistry, and purification pathways relevant to bromine extraction, and high-purity salts.
- Familiarity with plant design tools including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and CAPEX/OPEX modelling for chemical plants.
- Ability to translate market and commercial requirements into product specifications, quality parameters, and scalable production processes.
- Knowledge of quality and regulatory frameworks including GMP, ICH, pharmacopeia standards (USP/EP), and food grade or fertiliser grade compliance requirements.
- Understanding of mineral resource and brine chemistry including natural brine compositions, impurity management, and extraction technologies.
- Experience with EPC or plant commissioning, with the ability to bridge business development with engineering execution.
- Strategic thinker with excellent communication skills.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a national police clearance that is not older than 6 months and if site based must hold a WA White Card .
You must have current unrestricted working rights for Australia to be eligible for consideration.
