Project Accountant/Cost Controller

Monadelphous is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support a major power station project in Queensland. This is an opportunity, working Monday-Friday in the Brisbane office, supporting the successful delivery of a large-scale energy project. As Cost Controller, you will play a key role in providing accurate financial reporting, project forecasting, cost management, and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and maintain project control budgets and estimates aligned to the project scope and work breakdown structure.

* Prepare project forecasts and Estimate to Complete (ETC) calculations.

* Perform Earned Value Analysis (EVA), cost reporting, and cost performance evaluations.

* Conduct variance analysis and identify cost trends, risks, and opportunities.

* Monitor project performance against budget and forecast, providing timely insights to project and commercial leadership.

* Support the assessment and management of variations, claims, and change control processes.

* Manage project accounting activities, including cost control and monthly progress claim preparation.

* Collaborate closely with project delivery, commercial, and client stakeholders to ensure accurate cost reporting and financial governance.

* Process month-end accounting activities, including accruals, provisions, allocations, and cost transfers.

* Prepare comprehensive monthly management reports and present project financial performance to senior management.

* Contribute to the successful commercial delivery of a major power generation asset, ensuring compliance with contractual and reporting requirements.

What You'll Bring

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.

* Demonstrated experience in project accounting, cost control, and financial reporting within major construction, energy, utilities, or resources projects.

* Previous experience supporting large-scale power generation, energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.

* Site-based or FIFO experience within the energy, oil & gas, or mining sectors.

* Strong understanding of project controls, forecasting, earned value management, and change management processes.

* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

* Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced project environment while meeting critical reporting deadlines.

* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

* Experience with InEight or similar project controls systems will be highly regarded.
