Tailings Storage Facility Principal

We are seeking an experienced Principal Construction (TSF) to join the Tailings team at Hidden Valley Mine in Papua New Guinea.

This role will be offered as a FIFO opportunity from/to Australia working on a 16/12-day roster.

Reporting to the Tailings Manager, the Principal Construction will provide leadership and support within the tailings team at Hidden Valley Mine. This leadership role will play a critical part in planning and delivering bulk earthworks and associated infrastructure packages.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Lead the execution of civil works including bulk earthworks, haul roads, drainage and site infrastructure, while developing the next generation of engineers.
  • Monitor construction progress, identifying risks, delays and optimisation opportunities
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Prepare and present progress reports to key stakeholders
  • Contribute to project cost estimates, budgeting, and financial forecasting
  • Ensure works comply with project drawings, specifications, and technical standards.

Qualifications

You must be an experienced professional who is self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment holding the following qualifications and experience:

  • 10-15 years’ experience in bulk earthworks, haul roads and construction of tailings storage facilities / dams within the mining industry.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Civil Construction).
  • Strong technical leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methodologies, equipment, and standards.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex construction projects.
  • Extensive experience in material movement and construction.
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills at all organisational levels.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
