Business Analyst - Operations & Performance

Tired of writing recommendations no one acts on? This role is the opposite.

Our client is a fast-growing financial services business (~20 people in Brisbane, plus offshore teams in Manila and India) looking for a sharp, commercially minded analyst to work directly with the CEO, diagnosing what's broken, and actually fixing it.

This isn't project management. It's not slide decks for the sake of slide decks. It's real operational problem-solving, from root cause to measurable result.

What you'll do

  • Investigate performance issues end-to-end - hypothesis, root cause, solution
  • Design and implement process improvements with real efficiency gains
  • Build and maintain dashboards and KPI reporting that leadership actually uses
  • Develop financial and commercial models to support decisions
  • Prepare board-level reports and CEO briefings
  • Own delivery of improvement initiatives from ambiguity to outcome
  • Take on whatever the CEO needs, whenever it comes up

What you bring

  • 3-5 years of hands-on operational experience in an SME - someone who's run and improved how a business works, not just advised on it
  • A track record of leading process or operational change
  • Strong dashboarding (Power BI or similar) and financial modelling skills
  • Sharp written and verbal communication for senior/board audiences
  • Comfort with ambiguity, autonomy, and shifting priorities
  • Fluency with AI tools (like Claude) to accelerate your work

Consulting or corporate experience is a bonus, not a requirement. What matters is judgement, ownership, and a bias for outcomes over analysis.
