About The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced

IEC 62443 Cyber Security Specialist to join a Federal Government department delivering cyber security outcomes across Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control System (ICS) environments.

The successful candidate will provide specialist advice on the implementation and application of the IEC 62443 series of standards, supporting the secure design, assessment and ongoing governance of critical operational technologies.

This role will work closely with technical teams, project stakeholders and security specialists to ensure cyber security requirements are embedded throughout the system lifecycle and aligned with Australian Government security obligations.

Canberra-based candidates are preferred; however, applicants from other Australian locations will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise on the IEC 62443 standards and their application within OT and ICS environments.
• Conduct cyber security maturity and gap assessments against IEC 62443.
• Develop and review security architectures, technical controls and implementation strategies for OT environments.
• Perform cyber security risk assessments and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Support the secure design and delivery of OT solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review system designs, network architectures and vendor deliverables to ensure alignment with cyber security requirements.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation, security assessments and compliance artefacts.
• Collaborate with project teams, architects and cyber security personnel to deliver secure technology outcomes.
• Contribute to security governance, assurance and continuous improvement activities.
• Provide expert technical advice to internal stakeholders on OT cyber security best practice.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience applying the IEC 62443 series of standards.
• Strong understanding of Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA environments.
• Experience conducting cyber security risk assessments and security architecture reviews.
• Knowledge of industrial network design, segmentation and secure communications.
• Experience interpreting and applying cyber security frameworks, standards and best practices.
• Strong analytical, documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
