The Role

As an Innovation, Science and Technology (IS&T) Analyst, you will contribute to DSTG’s analytical work by supporting the development of advice on Defence capability issues. The role operates in a dynamic environment shaped by Defence committee timelines and competing priorities. You will apply sound judgement and established approaches to deliver quality outputs while working with others to achieve team objectives.

Through your work, you will support the integration of science and technology into Defence planning, while continuing to build your analytical capability and understanding of Defence capability processes. You will contribute to team outputs and continuous improvement within a collaborative and values-based environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the coordination and development of Technology Risk Assessments for Defence capability acquisition projects
  • Work with subject matter experts to gather, analyse and bring together technical information
  • Prepare and deliver clear written and verbal advice and briefings for stakeholders within required timeframes
  • Contribute to DSTG input into Defence committees, investment processes and capability activities
  • Organise and prioritise work to meet competing deadlines
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across DSTG and Defence
  • Apply established frameworks to assess technology risk and capability maturity
  • Contribute to process improvements and adapt to new ways of working
  • Work collaboratively in line with Defence values, supporting a respectful and inclusive team environment

About our Team

Project Analysis and Advice (PAA) provides support and advice on DSTG’s role in the Defence capability acquisition process. This includes preparing and delivering briefings to DSTG senior leaders ahead of Defence investment committees, in collaboration with subject matter experts. PAA also prepares and assures Technology Risk Assessments (TRAs) for Defence capability acquisition projects and contributes to Cabinet and Ministerial submissions through the provision of evidence-based technology advice.

The team supports DSTG’s contribution to Defence capability planning by strengthening analytical approaches, promoting consistency in advice, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment aligned with Defence values.
