Storage Engineer

Azooa is seeking Multiple Senior Storage Infrastructure Engineers to join the winning Azooa Contracts Team and support a major Federal Government ICT infrastructure environment.

This opportunity is for LH-06129 – Multiple Senior Storage Infrastructure Engineer with the Department of Industry, Science and Resources.

We are looking for senior enterprise storage professionals with strong experience across storage platforms, SAN, backup and restore capability, infrastructure documentation, and complex ICT operations.

About the Role

The ICT Operations Branch provides ICT support and underpinning infrastructure services to the department and Ministers’ Offices, ensuring staff have access to stable, secure and reliable technology.

The role sits within the ICT Networks & Infrastructure Platforms section, supporting the Infrastructure Platforms team, which is responsible for:

• Data centres

• Server hosts

• Virtualisation

• Automation

• Storage

• Backup and restore capability

• After-hours infrastructure support

The successful candidate will deploy, configure, manage, tune and support enterprise storage systems across physical and virtual layers. The role will also support Storage Area Network switches, backup and restore capability, documentation, operational handover, knowledge sharing and mentoring of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploying, configuring, managing and tuning enterprise storage systems

• Supporting storage systems across physical and virtual infrastructure layers

• Deploying, configuring and managing Storage Area Network switches

• Supporting backup and restore capability in a complex ICT environment

• Troubleshooting and tuning storage performance

• Supporting data centre, server host, virtualisation, automation, storage and backup environments

• Producing design documents, build documents, operations documents and procedures

• Supporting operational handover and knowledge transfer

• Mentoring and coaching junior infrastructure team members

• Collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders

• Making presentations to staff and stakeholders where required

• Supporting stable and secure infrastructure services

• Contributing to future storage and data platform direction

• Experience working in large and complex ICT environments

• Ability to design, administer, tune and troubleshoot storage systems

• Ability to produce design, build and operations documentation

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong collaboration skills with skilled technical teams

• Ability to present to staff and stakeholders

• Ability to coach and mentor staff

• Experience or knowledge of Veeam Backup and Replication

• Ability to work onsite in the ACT

• Ability to obtain and maintain Baseline security clearance

Highly Regarded Experience

• Federal Government ICT infrastructure experience

• Existing Baseline clearance or higher

• Enterprise storage administration in secure environments

• Data centre infrastructure experience

• Storage lifecycle management and capacity planning

• Storage performance tuning and troubleshooting

• SAN administration

• Backup, restore and disaster recovery support

• Virtualisation and infrastructure platforms experience

• After-hours or on-call infrastructure support

• Technical documentation and operational handover experience

Rate Guidance

$135/hour including super or below

Candidates with higher rates are still encouraged to apply. Higher rates may be considered where strong technical alignment, niche enterprise storage capability, SAN expertise, backup and restore experience, Federal Government experience or clearance status justifies the rate.
