About The Role

We’re seeking a Data Engineer to support the development and ongoing enhancement of a Microsoft SQL Data Warehouse. This role plays a critical part in delivering ETL solutions, ensuring data is effectively acquired, transformed and integrated across systems while maintaining high performance, reliability and data quality.

In this hands on position, you’ll work closely with a team of data professionals, providing technical expertise while contributing deep knowledge across data warehousing and business intelligence. You’ll work across the full data lifecycle, supporting data engineering, modelling, transformation and operational delivery to ensure effective outcomes across information systems.

You Should Have

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Microsoft SQL
  • Strong understanding of Kimball and Inmon data warehousing methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and Microsoft Transact SQL (T SQL)
  • Experience working with Oracle databases and PL/SQL
  • Advanced knowledge of ETL processes, OLAP cubes and data modelling using Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (SDDM)
  • Strong background in data engineering and data management, including data cleansing, transformation and integration
  • Experience in data acquisition, transformation and auditing processes
  • Proficiency in SQL job scheduling and PowerShell scripting
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to assess system performance and identify improvements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain ETL processes using SSIS, supporting and enhancing the Microsoft SQL Data Warehouse
  • Utilise SSIS, SSAS and T SQL to deliver high quality data solutions across the warehouse environment
  • Work with Oracle databases and PL/SQL to support integration and data processing requirements
  • Perform data cleansing, enhancement, transformation and integration across multiple data sources
  • Manage data acquisition, transformation and auditing processes to ensure data quality and reliability
  • Schedule and manage SQL jobs and PowerShell scripts to support operational data workflows
  • Analyse system performance and availability, identifying and implementing improvements to enhance IT systems and services
  • Support the gathering and translation of user requirements into effective data and information system solutions
  • Develop and maintain documentation for information systems, ensuring clarity and consistency across processes
  • Participate in team collaboration and continuous improvement activities, monitoring performance against targets
  • Adhere to IT Service Management processes and work in line with Service Level Agreements and Operational Level Agreements
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders
  • Contribute to project documentation and provide technical expertise across new and existing technology initiatives
