The Opportunity

MidCoast Council are currently seeking a skilled Traffic Engineer to join our Transport Assets Team. This position is a key contributor to transport, traffic management and road safety programs and projects across the MidCoast region and supports continuous improvement of our local traffic systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as administrator and facilitator of the Local Transport Forum in collaboration with Councillors, Transport for NSW, Police, and Public Transport Operators.
  • Provide clear and accurate technical reports, recommendations, and work instructions relating to traffic management and road safety projects.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into traffic issues and accurately document findings and actions.
  • Monitor existing traffic management schemes and promote alternate transport systems.
  • Participate in Council's ongoing Business Improvement Program to enhance systems and processes relating to traffic management.

What you'll bring

  • Degree Level qualifications in Civil Engineering, Traffic or Transport Engineering (or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in traffic management and knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation.
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to work cooperatively with stakeholders and relate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Attention to detail with a meticulous approach to documentation and report writing.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously.

Salary: Salary range $98,343.39 - $114,323.99 p.a. plus superannuation (negotiable based on skills and experience).

3.5% Civil Liability Allowance

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
