The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to join our planning team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely availability of raw materials to support production, while optimising inventory levels, supplier performance, and procurement outcomes.
This is a key role within the supply chain function, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure materials are planned, ordered, and delivered efficiently to meet customer demand and production requirements.
- Manage the procurement and availability of raw materials to support production schedules and ensure finished goods are delivered on time and in full
- Use supply planning systems and MRP tools to maintain optimal inventory levels and improve procurement accuracy
- Monitor and manage supplier performance, identifying supply risks, constraints, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and execute purchasing and replenishment plans aligned to business forecasts and operational requirements
- Optimise stock holdings to balance service levels, working capital, and business objectives
- Identify and communicate supply issues, implementing and supporting mitigation actions where required
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support new product introductions and phase-out activities
- This is a 6-month contract role.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in purchasing or supply chain within an FMCG or manufacturing environment
- Tertiary qualifications in supply chain, manufacturing, business, or a related field
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. MFG Pro/QAD, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar)
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel capability and exposure to reporting/BI tools
- Understanding of food manufacturing environments, including HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders
