About the role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager We’re currently looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Engineering team in Bathurst and play a critical role in delivering key capital projects that support our growth ambitions across APAC. You’ll lead end-to-end project execution, influence site strategy, and help deliver innovative engineering solutions that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
What will be your key responsibilities?
You will be responsible for managing and delivering capital projects across the Bathurst site. Working closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Supply, RD, QFS, HSE and Engineering, you will lead projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
In addition, you will:
- Manage site capital projects aligned to the Bathurst supply and growth strategy
- Lead project scope development, procurement, installation, commissioning and start-up activities
- Ensure all projects comply with Mars Engineering Work Processes, governance and standards
- Drive safety-first project delivery while role modelling Mars safety and quality principles
- Support technology upgrades, capacity increases, new product initiatives and process improvements
- Manage project forecasting, budgeting and capital expenditure tracking
- Partner with vendors and the Commercial team to develop buying plans and deliver successful outcomes
- Lead risk identification and change management processes throughout the project lifecycle
- Support sustainability, operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives across site
- Manage project close-out activities including asset capitalization and retirement processes
- Collaborate with local, regional and global engineering communities to share learnings and best practice.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a hands-on engineering professional with strong project management capability and a passion for delivering operational excellence within manufacturing.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Degree qualification in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering (preferred)
- Strong experience in a comparable Project Engineering role within food, beverage, FMCG or related manufacturing industries
- Demonstrated success delivering capital projects in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of site engineering and project execution processes
- Experience working with electrical and automation controls systems
- Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and organisational capability.
