About the position

Totally Smiles Geelong is currently seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to join the team on a full-time basis Monday to Friday.

Join a supportive and dynamic team in a modern 5-chair practice. Our dentists and team are highly patient-focused, ensuring the delivery of quality treatment and exceptional patient-centred care at every visit. The practice is conveniently located in the heart of Geelong, close to public transport and surrounded by a variety of cafés and restaurants.

As a Dental Assistant, you will report to the Practice Manager and work closely with the clinical team. This role offers exposure to ongoing learning opportunities, allowing you to further develop and enhance your professional skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Assist with patient management, including greeting patients, preparing them for procedures, and ensuring their comfort.
  • Clinical Support: Prepare and sterilise dental instruments, assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, and maintain a clean and organised treatment area.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor dental supplies levels, ensuring the treatment room is well-stocked and organised.
  • Patient Education: Provide patients with post-operative care instructions and educate them about oral hygiene and preventive care.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and other staff to ensure a smooth workflow and positive patient experience.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, as well as regulatory requirements in the dental practice.

What do you need to succeed

  • Prior experience as a Dental Assistant is essential
  • A Cert III or IV in Dental Assisting is beneficial
  • Knowledge of implants is a bonus, though not essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Capability to address patient concerns and resolve issues with professionalism and empathy
  • Attention to detail
