WSP’s Occupational Health & Hygiene team is nationally recognised for its expertise in providing exceptional consulting services across specialisations to it's broad client base. We’re growing and are looking for an experienced Occupational Hygiene Consultant to join our Perth office.
The Opportunity
As an experienced Occupational Hygiene Consultant, you will play a key leadership role in shaping and growing WSP’s Occupational Hygiene and Hazmat capability across Western Australia.
You’ll act as a trusted advisor to clients, lead complex and high-profile projects, and contribute to our strategic growth across priority sectors. This role combines technical leadership, client engagement, and business development, with the opportunity to influence both project outcomes and the direction of our service offering.
What You’ll Do
- Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, building long-term relationships and identifying new opportunities
- Monitor and manage the scope of multiple projects of varying complexity and size.
- Provide strategic technical input on major infrastructure, resources, and industrial projects
- Mentor and develop team members, building capability across our national network
- Collaborate across WSP’s broader Earth & Environment and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Contribute to market positioning, thought leadership, and service innovation
- Comply with and lead others in legislation, standards, guidelines and project specifications.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in environmental science, engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related discipline
- 10+ years’ relevant experience, ideally within consulting
- NATA Accreditation
- Highly competent in measuring and assessing occupational exposure to hazards in the workplace including: environmental factors and stresses, chemical hazards, physical hazards, ergonomic and biological hazards
- Demonstrated competence in laboratory analysis of fibrous minerals including asbestos and SMF awareness
- Ability to statistically process data and analyse data.
- Highly competent in laboratory analysis of airborne fibre samples. I.e. Fibre counting.
- Highly competent in the use of air sampling equipment.
- Experience in all aspects of business development.
- Demonstrated multiple instances of delivering best client outcomes/options which have saved the client costs/time.
- Extensive experienced in applying and coaching others in QA and OH&S systems. Regular auditing of other more junior staff.
- Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and win work
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex projects
- Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with clients, regulators, and stakeholders
- Drivers license (unrestricted, preferably manual transmission).
- Typically a Senior Professional Associate (if not, would be expected to apply for it within 12 months).
- Relevant internal and external SHEQ training including, First Aid, Working in Confined Spaces, Working at heights, Construction general safety induction, etc).
