Youth Representative

Leukaemia Foundation

Opportunity

As a Leukaemia Foundation Youth Representative, you’ll be working from our offices with our friendly team to inspire teachers and school communities to take part in the World’s Greatest Shave fundraising campaign. You’ll also spend time out in the community visiting schools and inspiring students to take part.

Your mission is to bring new schools on board, reconnect with schools that haven’t been involved for a while and support schools already taking part so they can raise even more. You’ll do this through emails, phone calls, in person school visits, motivating presentations at Assemblies or student forums, and by keeping in touch with schools during their fundraising journey. You’ll also keep simple records of your visits and progress so the World’s Greatest Shave team can see how the campaign is growing.

A few extra things to know

  • This role is based out of the Leukaemia Foundation’s office – work from home isn’t available
  • You’ll work mainly in metro areas, with regular travel in your allocated territory
  • Hours may change throughout the season – they’re busiest during Term 1
  • This role is seasonal- there is no work during school holidays
  • You will work during business hours only- no weekend work

What you’ll be doing

  • Contact schools via email, phone, and in-person visits to introduce the World’s Greatest Shave, secure participation, and deliver engaging presentations to students and staff
  • Reconnect with schools that haven’t participated recently and encourage them to return with fresh ideas and support
  • Provide ongoing guidance, answer questions, and help schools maximise their fundraising impact for Australians affected by blood cancer
  • Maintain accurate records, track engagement progress, and provide updates and feedback to the team and manager
  • Work within a national team, share ideas, learn from others, and assist with local campaign events when required

You may also have an opportunity to do roadtrips on our new Shave Shuttle, bringing the WGS to school communities in regional areas!

What we are looking for

  • Confidence sending emails and making phone calls to inspire schools to take part in the World’s Greatest Shave, even if they haven’t heard about it before
  • Confidence speaking to groups (whether that’s in a classroom or assembly hall)
  • A friendly, approachable manner and the ability to connect with people quickly
  • Great communication skills – in person, over the phone, and in writing
  • Resilience and an understanding that not every school will respond to your messages!
  • Good organisation and time management
  • A driver’s licence and your own reliable car (you’ll be reimbursed for your kilometres). Bonus if you have a manual license, as that means you can drive our Shave Shuttle
  • A Working With Children Check (or willingness to get one before starting

It’s a bonus if you have

  • Experience in customer service, sales, promotions, or community engagement
  • An understanding of schools and youth culture
  • Experience with a CRM (like Salesforce) or using Microsoft Office

What we to offer

  • A fun, hands-on role that makes a real difference for Australians with blood cancer
  • Valuable work experience in the non-profit sector that looks great on your resume
  • Support from a friendly, welcoming team
  • Travel cost reimbursement for work-related trips in your area
  • Flexible weekday hours (no weekends or after-hours work)
