Head of Commercial, NSP

APA Group

The Opportunity

At APA, our purpose is to secure Australia’s energy future. We’re not doing it alone. We’re doing it with our customers and communities as Australia’s energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.

Reporting to the General Manager, Portfolio Strategy & Analytics, we’re seeking a Head of Commercial (NSP) to lead the commercial strategy and execution across APA’s existing electricity transmission network in the Pilbara, as well as the development of new networks in priority corridors. This is a high impact role at a pivotal time, with a significant opportunity for APA to support the next generation of electricity transmission assets in the region.

This role will suit a commercially astute leader with strong experience in electricity transmission and complex commercial contracting within regulated infrastructure environments. Based in Perth (or open to relocation), you’ll bring the capability to drive value creation, deliver positive customer outcomes, and shape investment decisions, all while ensuring regulatory compliance and strong stakeholder alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will lead the end to end commercial journey, shaping opportunities early and guiding them through structuring, negotiation and agreement execution to set projects up for long term success.
  • At the heart of growth in the Pilbara, you will help bring new electricity transmission opportunities to life by developing thoughtful commercial strategies and business plans for network expansion and new transmission corridors.
  • You will build strong and trusted relationships with customers, regulators, financiers and the Pilbara Independent System Operator, becoming a respected and credible commercial voice.
  • Working closely with development, engineering, regulatory and operations teams, you will create alignment and ensure delivery is integrated, practical and commercially sound.
  • With a strong commercial lens, you will guide financial modelling, risk and scenario thinking while navigating governance and approvals with confidence and care.

Your background

  • You bring experience defining and delivering commercial strategy for network access and connections, with a clear understanding of how to turn strategy into practical, scalable outcomes.
  • You have owned commercial performance across a transmission portfolio, with a strong track record of driving value creation and making disciplined, commercially sound decisions.
  • You understand the full connection lifecycle and have led this end to end across both new and existing customers, ensuring a seamless and well managed experience.
  • You are confident building and maintaining senior customer relationships, positioning the organisation as a trusted and preferred partner in a complex and evolving market.
  • You combine strong commercial judgement with regulatory awareness, ensuring obligations are met while contributing meaningful input into investment decisions, prioritisation and business planning.
