What you will do as the Technical Lead

As a Technical Lead within the Technology Development team, you will provide technical leadership and direction to a team of technology professionals responsible for operating, maintaining, and enhancing the branch’s ICT solutions. You will guide the team in delivering robust,

scalable, and well-documented solutions that align with organisational objectives and the target state architecture.

As The Technical Lead, You Will

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with the target state architecture.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical solutions, assess feasibility, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead the development and enforcement of coding standards, design principles, and best practices to improve maintainability, efficiency, and collaboration across the team.
  • Oversee testing and quality assurance processes, including automated test frameworks, User Acceptance Testing, and technical verification during deployments.
  • Ensure system and solution documentation is accurate, complete, and meets organisational standards, providing clarity for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Lead investigations into production incidents, providing technical oversight and guidance to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Mentor, coach, and support team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive team culture.
  • Actively incorporate stakeholder feedback into technical solutions to ensure they are fit-for-purpose, sustainable, and meet user needs.
  • Support agile delivery by guiding development activities, ensuring adherence to architectural guidance, technical best practices, and organisational objectives.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, optimising processes, enhancing tooling, and promoting automation across development, deployment, and release activities.

About You

Role

All candidates are expected to meet the APS Integrated Leadership Profile (ILS) for the classification advertised. Follow the link for more information on the ILS. This role in particular requires:

  • Relevant skills and demonstrated experience relating to the key responsibilities of this position (as described above).
  • Proficiency in designing and maintaining Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) using .NET C# and user interfaces using JavaScript frameworks, particularly React.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud capabilities, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and the broader Microsoft technology stack.
  • Experience in automation testing, including designing, implementing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks to support continuous integration and delivery pipelines, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and system reliability.
  • Proven ability to set coding standards, enforce best practices, and reduce technical debt while fostering team collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate technical documentation, articulate complex ideas, and engage stakeholders throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or mentoring a team of developers or technical staff, fostering collaboration, and building productive relationships with stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and evolving business needs and demonstrate a willingness to continuously learn and improve skills.

The Following Job Specific Criteria Are Also Highly Desirable

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Baseline Security Clearance with AGSVA.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, TOGAF, or ITIL are desirable.
