Desktop Support Engineer | Contract Role | Perth | 5 Days Onsite

A global, technology-driven professional services organisation operating within a highly secure and fast-paced enterprise environment is seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to join their Corporate IT function. The business supports complex, distributed environments across multiple regions and places strong emphasis on modern endpoint management, security, and service excellence.

This is a hands-on technical role where you will be responsible for supporting, deploying, and managing end-user devices and services within a predominantly Microsoft-based environment, with a strong focus on modern workplace tooling.

This is a contract position based in Perth, requiring full-time onsite attendance (5 days per week, Monday–Friday).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to internal users across hardware, software, network, and application issues.
  • Lead and execute Windows device provisioning using Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot, including end-to-end build and deployment of new starter devices.
  • Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) join, device enrolment, configuration profiles, compliance policies, and application deployment via Intune.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve endpoint deployment and application issues, including detection rules, assignment targeting, and deployment failures.
  • Deliver high-quality incident, request, and escalation management using ServiceNow and/or Jira.
  • Perform onsite and remote support including imaging, configuration, hardware setup, and software installation.
  • Support Microsoft enterprise environments including Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and associated server and endpoint technologies.
  • Administer and support Active Directory, mobile devices, and endpoint management tools, ensuring devices remain compliant and secure.
  • Provide onsite infrastructure support including basic networking tasks, patching, and hardware replacement guidance (in coordination with infrastructure teams).
  • Support AV and meeting room technologies including Teams Rooms, conferencing systems, displays, cameras, and audio equipment.
  • Assist with onboarding processes, ensuring new users receive fully configured and functional devices on time.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to operational knowledge bases.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams.

About You

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Desktop Support, EUC, or IT Support Engineering roles within a corporate environment.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot (essential).
  • Proven experience building and deploying Windows devices from scratch using Autopilot.
  • Solid understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD), device management, and endpoint configuration policies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application deployment, endpoint management, and user environment issues.
  • Experience with ServiceNow and Active Directory (essential).
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, IP networking).
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Exposure to VMware, firewalls, backup systems, or similar infrastructure tools is advantageous.
  • Experience supporting AV / Teams Rooms environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support senior stakeholders in a professional environment.
  • Highly self-sufficient with the ability to operate as the primary onsite IT support presence.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
