About the role

At Tetra Tech Coffey, we’re dedicated to enhancing our approach to handling complex projects within our specialized field. Our goal is to provide innovative solutions to our clients, always Leading with Science.

In this role, you will take ownership of geotechnical projects, including preparing proposals, organising and executing site investigations, and delivering clear, defensible reports with a high degree of autonomy. We are seeking a candidate who is genuinely passionate about delivering practical and intelligent engineering solutions to our clients.

In addition to your site engineer involvement, you will independently coordinate investigations, communicate directly with clients during delivery, and support and learn from senior staff on larger, more complex projects. Working closely with our experts, you will collaborate on diverse projects across multiple sectors spanning mining, civil, renewables and transport infrastructure — offering you the chance to innovate, collaborate, and grow in a role with real impact.

About you

We are looking for a geotechnical professional who can independently deliver high‑quality geotechnical investigations, bring ownership and pride in delivering projects to clients, an energy towards their work and the team a commitment to expanding their technical knowledge. You will have strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build strong team and client relationships.

Ideally you will have:

• A Civil Engineering or Geology degree.

• 4-8 years’ experience in geotechnical investigations and site work

• Experienced in soil and rock logging to AS 1726-2017, including performance of in-situ tests

• Experience in project delivery, including proposal preparation, site investigation management and factual/interpretive reporting

• A strong sense of ownership, accountability and professional independence

• A keen interest in developing your consulting, business development and analytical skills

• Strong collaboration skills along with the confidence to work independently when required

• A willingness to support junior staff and contribute positively to team capability

• Capabilities in utilising GIS, AI, visualisation, drawing tools would be advantageous.

• CPEng/RPEQ accreditation, or progression towards these will be considered favourably
