About Allied Health Services

Allied Health at Cabrini is a rapidly expanding and highly integrated service comprising twelve professional disciplines. The department plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across the organisation.

The Role

Ready to take the next step into leadership?

We are seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to join our Acute team at Cabrini Malvern in a permanent 0.8 FTE (4 days per week) Grade 3 role.

This position combines advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, including coordinating student placements and the weekend service, mentoring Grade 1 and Grade 2 clinicians, and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. We also encourage experienced Grade 2 Speech Pathologists ready to transition into a Grade 3 role to apply. Support will be provided to ensure a successful transition.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess and manage adults with communication and swallowing disorders in the acute setting

  • Provide clinical leadership, mentoring and supervision

  • Coordinate student placements and the Speech Pathology weekend service

  • Promote evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research

  • Work collaboratively to deliver exceptional patient outcomes

About you

Along with your passion for speech pathology, you will have experience working with patients with communication & swallowing deficits in an acute hospital setting. Videofluoroscopy competency is highly desirable and experience with tracheostomy management.

You will bring

  • Current membership with Speech Pathology Australia and Medicare Provider eligibility

  • At least five years' postgraduate hospital experience

  • Experience managing communication and swallowing disorders in acute care

  • Videofluoroscopy Swallow Study (VFSS) competency and a minimum of two years' experience (highly desirable)

  • Experience with tracheostomy management (desirable)

  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills

  • A commitment to professional development, research and high-quality patient care
