The Role
As the Engineering Manager – Diving and Hyperbaric, you will be responsible for delivering safe, innovative diving and hyperbaric solutions across the full engineering lifecycle.
The role manages a multidisciplinary team, oversees technical outputs, and ensures engineering activities meet safety, quality, cost, and compliance requirements while supporting major commercial and defence projects.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the Engineering department in alignment with JFD strategic objectives and regulatory frameworks.
- Drive the delivery of engineering solutions that achieve the highest standards of safety, quality, operability, supportability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee engineering budgets, schedules, and project execution, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and cost targets.
- Monitor departmental performance, using reporting, capacity planning, and metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and engineering excellence.
- Partner with Production and key stakeholders to deliver cost-competitive solutions through advanced manufacturing and efficient engineering practices.
What we’re looking for
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Registered with Engineers Australia (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in subsea, Defence, maritime, hyperbaric or other safety-critical engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of product design, systems integration verification, validation, certification and through-life engineering support.
- Strong understanding of customer, contractual, regulatory and assurance obligations in a defence environment.
- Experienced in managing risk, configuration control, design reviews and engineering change.
- Experience setting and delivering medium- and long-term strategies, budgets and resource plans
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills
- Must be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance
