About Our Client

Our client is a well-established Australian business operating nationally within the building products and construction solutions sector. Known for quality, innovation, and customer service, they partner with builders, contractors, developers, architects, and project stakeholders across a diverse range of construction projects.

The business is entering an exciting growth phase and is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to identify new opportunities, win new customers, and expand market presence.

The primary objective of this role is to identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities across commercial construction, residential construction and associated project markets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively identifying and converting new business opportunities.
  • Developing relationships with builders, trades, contractors, developers and key decision-makers.
  • Generating specifications and project opportunities.
  • Building and managing a high-quality sales pipeline.
  • Delivering compelling sales presentations and commercial proposals.
  • Conducting market analysis and identifying emerging opportunities.
  • Negotiating commercial agreements and long-term supply arrangements.
  • Maintaining strong CRM discipline and accurate sales forecasting.
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

This role is heavily focused on market growth and customer acquisition rather than account management.

The Successful Applicant

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Proven success in a Business Development Manager, Sales Manager or Territory Manager position.
  • A strong track record of winning new business within building materials, construction products, industrial products or related sectors.
  • Experience selling into builders, contractors, developers, architects, specifiers or construction stakeholders.
  • A genuine hunter mentality with a passion for generating opportunities from scratch.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and networking capabilities.
  • A disciplined and proactive approach to business development
