About the Role
Curtin University is seeking a passionate and motivated
Horticulturalist to join our Parks & Resource Recovery team. If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in creating attractive public spaces and want to contribute to an environment used by thousands of students, staff and visitors every day, we'd love to hear from you.
Working across our vibrant Bentley campus, you'll play an important role in maintaining and enhancing Curtin's award-winning grounds, gardens and landscapes while working alongside an experienced and supportive team.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks & Gardens, you'll be responsible for delivering a wide range of horticultural services to ensure the University's grounds remain safe, attractive and maintained to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include
- Maintaining landscaped gardens, lawns and public spaces across campus
- Planting, pruning, mulching, and fertilising garden beds
- Minor tree works using chainsaws and pole saws
- Weed control, including chemical applications
- Landscape construction and enhancement work
- Maintaining ponds, waterways and associated infrastructure
- Operating, servicing and maintaining horticultural machinery and equipment
- Completing maintenance records and safety documentation
- Working safely and contributing to a positive team culture
Selection Criteria
We're looking for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, takes pride in delivering high-quality outcomes and works well both independently and as part of a team.
To be successful you'll have:
- Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent experience
- Experience maintaining gardens and landscaped environments
- Experience operating and maintaining horticultural machinery and equipment
- Knowledge of weeds, pests, chemicals and horticultural practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a busy environment
- Current C Class Driver's Licence and White Card
Previous experience working within a large or complex organisation will be highly regarded.

- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
