About The Opportunity

At Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, every employee plays a role in helping our community thrive. We are seeking a Civil Designer to join our Project Delivery Section within the Community Infrastructure Group.

In this role, you will deliver engineering designs and pre-construction activities for a range of civil infrastructure projects that support our growing community. Working across projects from concept through to construction readiness, you will prepare detailed designs, cost estimates and technical documentation while providing specialist design advice to support successful project delivery.

This role is ideal for an experienced civil designer who enjoys solving engineering challenges, managing multiple projects, and contributing to infrastructure that delivers lasting community benefits.

To Be Successful In This Position You Will Have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Drafting or a related discipline, or significant relevant experience
  • Experience designing public infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency in 12D, AutoCAD and DRAINS
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and Austroads Guidelines
  • Experience delivering designs from concept to completion
  • A Class C Driver Licence

Desirable Experience Includes

  • Brownfield project experience
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of AUSPEC Standards, ARR 2019 and TfNSW supplements

On a Typical Day You Will

  • Deliver civil infrastructure designs and pre-construction activities in line with Council's Project Management Framework
  • Prepare engineering designs using specialist design software
  • Develop quantity estimates, cost estimates and technical documentation
  • Manage outsourced design components and consultant engagements
  • Ensure designs meet relevant standards, legislative requirements and Council expectations
  • Provide technical advice and support to consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to capital works planning and project delivery outcomes

Remuneration And Benefits

Employment Type: Full time, Permanent, 35 hours per week

Starting salary of $101,015.87 to $113,067.81 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus 12% Super
