About The Role

We are seeking passionate and skilled

Youth Suicide Counsellors to join our Mental Health & Wellness team.

In this frontline role, you will provide therapeutic counselling and support to young people experiencing suicidal thoughts and mental health challenges. Working closely with the Clinical Team Lead, peer workers and support staff, you will deliver trauma-informed, person-centred care that promotes safety, recovery and wellbeing.

This is a highly impactful role where you will build meaningful relationships with young people, conduct risk assessments and safety planning, and connect clients to the supports they need.

Key Focus Areas Include

  • Therapeutic counselling and case management
  • Suicide risk assessment and safety planning
  • Advocacy and coordination of supports for young people

This is a casual role and operates within a 24/7 service, with shift work including weekdays, weekends and awake night shifts.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Experience working with young people with complex needs, including mental health challenges, trauma and suicidal ideation
  • Demonstrated ability to provide therapeutic counselling, risk assessment and safety planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with young people and their supports
  • Experience in case management and developing goal-based support plans
  • Strong written skills, including report writing and case documentation
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Availability to work across a 24/7 roster including night shifts

The Following Criteria Are Considered Desirable

  • Experience in community services, mental health or youth services
  • Relevant qualification in counselling, psychology, social work or related field
  • Experience working in trauma-informed and recovery-oriented models of care
  • Understanding of diversity, inclusion and culturally safe practice
