What you will do as the Director
- Lead a team of skilled professional staff to analyse and assess the competition implications of mergers and acquisitions.
- Strategic planning and risk assessment.
- Review and analyse submissions and legal/economic reports.
- Collaborate with other parts of the ACCC and, in particular, the ACCC’s internal specialist economists and lawyers.
- Oversee a team to prepare communication to industry participants, written recommendations for ACCC Commissioners and written determinations.
- Discuss the impact of mergers and acquisitions with customers, competitors, and industry groups, and professionally represent the ACCC in these discussions.
- Liaise with other Australian Government agencies and overseas competition and consumer agencies about the ACCC’s mergers work.
- Lead Australian Competition Tribunal review matters and litigated merger matters.
About You
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in a fast-paced and large complex people-centred organisation.
- Exceptional written communication skills in a regulatory context.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, preferably economics, law, or similar disciplines.
- An understanding, or ability to quickly acquire an understanding, of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and, in particular, Part IVA of the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as an understanding of the roles and functions of the ACCC.

Salary: $148,287 - $173,778 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
