About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Work Health & Safety (WHS) Partner to join our established Victorian Health & Safety team.

This is far more than a compliance role. You'll be a trusted advisor to operational leaders, working alongside teams across St Vincent's private hospitals and residential aged care services to strengthen safety culture, improve risk management and support continuous improvement.

Based at our Melbourne Group Office ,you'll regularly travel across multiple St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne sites, providing variety, professional growth and exposure to diverse healthcare environments.

About the Role

Reporting to the WHS Manager – Victoria, you'll partner with operational leaders to support the ongoing implementation of St Vincent's Work Health & Safety Management System while ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and best practice.

Key responsibilities include

  • Partnering with managers and leaders to provide timely, practical WHS advice and support

  • Building strong relationships that positively influence workplace safety culture

  • Supporting implementation and continuous improvement of the St Vincent's WHS Management System

  • Conducting workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities

  • Identifying hazards and opportunities to strengthen risk controls

  • Leading or supporting workplace incident investigations and implementing preventative actions

  • Analysing incident, injury and hazard trends to proactively reduce workplace risks

  • Preparing services for internal, external and accreditation audits

  • Supporting Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and WHS Committees

  • Developing risk assessments, safe work instructions and other WHS documentation

  • Delivering WHS education, coaching and awareness initiatives

  • Working collaboratively across multiple healthcare sites to improve organisational safety performance

About You

You're passionate about helping people work safely and enjoy building trusted relationships with leaders and frontline teams.

You bring a practical, collaborative approach and enjoy solving problems, influencing positive change and creating safer workplaces.

You'll also have

Essential

  • Experience in a Work Health & Safety role within healthcare or another complex operational environment

  • Strong working knowledge of Victorian Work Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements

  • Demonstrated experience undertaking workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to influence leaders and coach teams to improve safety outcomes

  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills

  • High level written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent computer literacy and confidence using WHS systems and technology

  • Ability to work across multiple sites and manage competing priorities

Qualifications

Essential

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or currently working towards)

  • Current Australian Driver Licence

Desirable

  • ICAM (or equivalent) Incident Investigation qualification

  • WHS Internal Auditor qualification

  • Degree in Work Health & Safety or related discipline

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
