Senior Manager Regulatory Change Engagement

This is a 12 month secondment.

A bit about the role :

  • Overview of the position – Lead Bankwest’s centralised regulatory engagement function, overseeing regulatory and policy obligations, Mandatory Learning, CATS and licensing accreditation.

  • Main responsibilities – Coordinate regulatory, operational and compliance risk change initiatives, ensuring clear sponsorship, governance and delivery by required compliance dates.

  • Team context – Reporting to the EM CARE, you’ll lead four direct reports and partner with Group Line 2 Compliance, framework teams and Bankwest senior leaders.

  • Impact – Strengthen Bankwest’s ability to anticipate, govern and implement regulatory and policy change while supporting effective risk management and customer outcomes.

Your day-to-day

  • Daily tasks – Lead regulatory and policy change mobilisation, chair the Regulatory and Policy Front Door Forum, oversee license management, manage Mandatory Learning and CATS governance, and prepare reporting for key forums.

  • Tools used – SharePoint, Jira, Tableau, Teams, Copilot and Microsoft Office.

  • Collaboration – Partner with Bankwest, Group Line 2 Compliance, Risk Framework and senior leadership teams to manage regulatory and policy obligations effectively.

  • Decision-making – Recommend governance, sponsorship, prioritisation and escalation approaches for regulatory and policy change initiatives.

  • Problem-solving – Navigate competing regulatory, policy and business priorities while resolving ownership, delivery, timeline and compliance risks.

  • Key skills – Strong regulatory, operational or compliance risk experience, with the ability to lead teams, influence senior stakeholders and deliver change in a complex environment.

  • Mindset or attitude – Proactive, accountable and outcomes-focused, with a commitment to people development, continuous improvement and practical use of technology.

  • Work style – Organised, strategic and pragmatic, with the confidence to translate complex risk and regulatory matters into clear, actionable insights.

  • Nice-to-haves – Experience engaging with regulators, responding to regulatory requests or implementing policy and risk frameworks.

We’re interested in hearing from people with

  • Strong experience in risk, compliance, regulatory affairs, governance or change management within financial services or another regulated environment.

  • Understanding of operational risk, compliance risk, regulatory frameworks, policy governance and key financial services obligations.

  • Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to set expectations, constructively challenge and develop high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication, influencing and facilitation skills, including the ability to engage senior stakeholders and translate complex information clearly.

  • Strong planning, problem-solving and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a changing environment.

  • A proactive risk mindset, with the ability to identify issues, recommend practical actions and deliver sustainable outcomes.
