Troocoo is partnering with a valued government client to recruit an experienced

AO7 Principal Governance and Risk Advisor for a contract opportunity based in Brisbane’s inner city. This role will suit a governance, risk, compliance or assurance professional who is confident operating at a senior advisory level and enjoys improving frameworks, systems and processes that support strong organisational decision-making.

Working as part of a Corporate Governance team, you will provide specialist advice and professional expertise across contemporary governance and risk practices. You will play a key role in supporting compliance, audit readiness, document control and the ongoing improvement of governance frameworks across the organisation.

About The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the design and continuous improvement of governance and risk frameworks, including policies, procedures and templates
  • Ensuring alignment with legislation, whole-of-government requirements and internal compliance obligations
  • Providing detailed advice and preparing corporate documents and reports relating to governance and risk management activities
  • Leading document control and information governance practices across key corporate documents
  • Coordinating governance activities including operational risk reviews, monthly compliance reporting, fraud control reviews, audit activities and support for the Risk and Audit Committee
  • Building organisational capability through guidance, training and mentoring across governance and risk management practices

About you

To be successful, you will bring demonstrated experience across governance, risk, compliance, assurance, audit support, policy development and reporting. You will be confident interpreting legislation and whole-of-government direction and translating this into practical policies, procedures and governance controls.

You will also bring strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with a range of internal stakeholders. Relevant qualifications in procurement, risk or compliance will be highly regarded, but are not mandatory.
