About the role

As our Governance team continues to grow, we're looking for a Governance Officer to join an established and highly regarded team that plays a critical role in supporting Council, Committees and the City's governance framework.

This is an opportunity to build your governance career in a role that combines committee administration, statutory compliance and advisory support. You'll work closely with Council, senior leaders and City officers, ensuring governance processes operate efficiently and in accordance with legislative requirements.

A snapshot of your new role

  • Coordinate and distribute Council and Committee agendas and minutes.
  • Attend Council and Committee meetings to undertake accurate minute-taking and support compliant meeting practices.
  • Coordinate the City's Freedom of Information (FOI) processes, ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information Act.
  • Maintain statutory registers and governance records.
  • Provide governance support and advice to City officers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of governance processes and systems.

What you will bring to the role

  • Experience in governance, committee administration, local government administration, Freedom of Information or a similar role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong written communication skills, including preparing accurate minutes and formal documentation.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Sound understanding of governance principles and legislative compliance requirements, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
  • A collaborative approach and confidence working with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Qualifications in business or public administration (desirable)
  • Current Satisfactory National Police Clearance.
