Primary Purpose

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Midwife, participate in the provision of safe, compassionate, person centred care in collaboration with individual/s and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve quality care outcomes for patients and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Providing support to the nursing team in the delivery of Nursing care in all nursing care environment as directed by Dominion Nursing Agency, and the Registered Nurse/Midwife on duty.

  • Provide direct care activities to patients in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a RN/RM
  • Assisting the RN/RM and EN with patient care interventions as directed
  • Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and other health care team members in accordance with appropriate hospital/facility protocol.
  • Escalating to the RN/RM when changes to patient condition or observations are noted

Skills And Competencies

  • Completion of qualification, HLT33115 Certificate III Health Services Assistance (Descriptor: Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute/Aged Care) or have completed 1 or more years of an undergraduate registered nursing student.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively within a team environment, value different perspectives within the team and manage conflicts situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Ability to work within a plan of care under the supervision and direction of a Registered. Nurse/Midwife.
  • Awareness of the principles of Quality, infection control, WHS and EEO.
  • Evidence of a current Class C drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances to various hospital/health care facilities for work.
