The Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Service supports the frontline policing and corporate operations of SAPOL through the provision of ICT infrastructure and communication platforms, operational software applications, and support services. The Service is responsible for driving the ongoing evolution of ICT capability across SAPOL, through the delivery of high-quality ICT change programs. The Service is structured across four core pillars: Strategy, Innovation and Engagement; Program Delivery; Operational Services; and Security and Assurance. The Service extends from traditional ICT services to encompass a specialist radio and technology capability, including laser and radar calibration services.

The Security Architecture and Engineering Branch delivers enterprise security capabilities that support SAPOL’s digital and technology environment. It ensures that systems, platforms and services are designed, implemented and operated securely across their lifecycle. The Branch provides specialist security advice to programs, projects and operational services, including guidance on security architecture, control design and emerging technology risks. In doing so, it enables consistent, risk‑aligned decision‑making and supports the delivery of secure, resilient and compliant technology outcomes across SAPOL.

The Security Officer contributes to the effectiveness of SAPOL’s IT security posture by ensuring access to SAPOL data is restricted to authorised personnel through the administration of appropriate security controls, and by supporting the development and implementation of security policies and practices.
