About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Planner for a role based in Gladstone. This role is offering a Monday to Friday roster. In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and control long term shutdown maintenance requirements process plants by adopting industry best practices to achieve high reliability and availability while complying with the statutory regulations and meeting business objectives in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost effective manner. Responsible for ensuring that CMMS Work Orders are managed and clearly defined for execution of maintenance work activities.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Attendance to the pre-shutdown meetings
  • Attendance of pre shutdown TAR reviews prior to the shutdown
  • Work Pack development support to Shutdown Lead Planner: photos materials, labour estimate, scaffold, cladding, cleaning.
  • Coordinate the overall maintenance work activities (planning and work packing) execution so that it is completed as per the shutdown schedule and specification in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure planning is accurate to 10% of time and cost, Planning is responsible for satisfactory cost spend and all scope costed appropriately.
  • Provide ownership over cost spend. All overrun and underruns are to be escalated via change orders and trended to ensure no surprises, Lack of planning will not be an excuse for cost overruns. Everyone is accountable for shutdown budget Own the whole scope.
  • Communicating information about the shutdown back to the mechanical supervisor and trades people
  • Providing the Shutdown Lead Planner with progress updates for all work orders for work which must be completed during the plant outage, in a timely manner prior to the shutdown Shutdown Dashboard report.
  • Co-ordinate with the Shutdown Lead Planner and Shutdown Event Leader in setting up the shutdown site, mobilising and locating tooling and safety containers, air compressors, generators, steam generators, cranage, etc.
  • Coordinating the set up and spotting of amenities, site buildings.
  • Sourcing, labelling, and positioning of blinds and gaskets in conjunction with Shutdown Lead Planner.
  • Advising the Shutdown Lead Planner of extra or specialist equipment tooling which may be required.
  • Communicating with the Shutdown Lead Planner and manager prior to the shutdown on progress of preparing the shutdown site. E.g., scaffold erecting and cladding removal
  • participate in supervising the mechanical work during the shutdown outage and reporting of progress back to the Shutdown Lead Planner and manager.
  • participating in the daily on-site shutdown communications meetings
  • assistance in resolving issues and escalating problems which cannot be readily resolved to the Shutdown Event Leader
  • Coordinate and control daily shutdown maintenance work orders to meet plant operations and reliability objectives.
  • Plan shutdown maintenance work, based on 6 monthly ½ rate campaigns, and full train.
  • Review and prepare maintenance work list which require plant shutdown for safe execution.
  • Reserve materials and spare parts from warehouse for timely work order execution.
  • Initiate Purchase Requisition, for parts and services, and follow through until its delivery/execution.
  • Develop and execute procurement and contractual matters prior to operations including contractors/vendors selection. It shall include spare-parts and equipment criticality review and planning.
  • Coordinate and prepare all permits required for Plant Shutdown Maintenance activities.
  • Manage, coordinate, and control the close-out/evaluation activities of all shutdown maintenance work.
  • Review performance of shutdown maintenance work conducted by all technicians and captures its lesson learnt for future improvement.
  • Assist in the development of work scope for any relevant contracts to support shutdown maintenance work long term service contracts, reviewing contractor, ensure performance and resources optimization. Support the monitoring of the implementation and execution of the sub-contracts by the contractors through agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI) as stipulated in the contracts.
  • Plan and assist the shutdown scheduler, shutdown maintenance resources (internal and external) to support and execute shutdown maintenance work requirement.
  • Support planning and scheduling maintenance support during plant turnaround until completion where required.

Skills And Experience

  • Mechanical maintenance planning for fixed plant, process plant, mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments
  • Development of detailed work packs, job plans, scopes of work, and maintenance procedures
  • Scheduling and coordinating preventative, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities
  • Proficiency in CMMS/EAM systems such as SAP, Pronto Xi, IBM Maximo, or Infor EAM
  • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment including pumps, conveyors, crushers, compressors, gearboxes, valves, and rotating equipment
  • Resource planning, including labour, materials, tooling, and contractor requirements
  • Shutdown, turnaround, and outage planning experience
