ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will oversee the design, build, operation, and optimisation of enterprise network infrastructure across multiple state sites, covering LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPN, and cloud networking, while leading cloud-first engineering across Azure and AWS. You will drive advanced networking capabilities including hybrid connectivity, inter-cloud routing, traffic optimisation, and secure integration between on-premise and cloud environments, ensuring scalable and highly available platforms. You will own network standards, governance, lifecycle management, and work closely with Cyber Security to deliver secure, compliant architectures. Partnering across internal teams, state bodies, vendors, and managed service providers, you will deliver integrated outcomes and lead network components of major projects and transformation initiatives, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, modern engineering practices, and team development, including support during major events and critical operations.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Platform Operations, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Lead enterprise network engineering across on-premise and cloud (Azure & AWS), including hybrid and high-availability environments

  • Own standards, governance, security integration, and lifecycle management across network and infrastructure domains

  • Drive modernisation through automation, SD-WAN, zero-trust, and simplified network design patterns

  • Coach and lead engineers while supporting critical events, match days, and high-impact operational windows

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant industry certifications (e.g. Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet, Aruba, Azure or AWS networking) highly regarded

  • Proven experience leading or mentoring network and infrastructure engineers in complex, multi-site enterprise environments

  • Strong technical expertise across routing, switching, Wi-Fi, firewalls, VPN, DNS, DHCP, segmentation, and high-availability network design

  • Experience designing and supporting cloud networking across Azure and AWS, including hybrid connectivity (e.g. ExpressRoute, Direct Connect)

  • Advanced troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable solutions while managing operational risk

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and documentation skills, with experience working across MSPs, vendors, and cross-functional teams

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and modern networking practices (automation, SD-WAN, zero-trust), with flexibility to support critical infrastructure during major events and after-hours periods

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

Our employees at Cricket are gifted an additional week of leave at the end of the season! As a CA employee, you will also have other benefits including:

  • Tickets to the Cricket for you to take your friends and family and experience Australia’s favourite game!

  • A flexible working environment, meaning we strike the balance of what you need and what works for the business (this isn’t limited to working remotely)

  • Discounts from our partners such as ASICS and salary packaging options

  • A multitude of leave types including paid parental leave and volunteer leave
