Lead the Technical Future of Remote Energy in WA

The Project Engineering Lead is a newly created leadership role designed to strengthen the technical direction of Horizon Power’s Remote Infrastructure Projects portfolio. You’ll play a pivotal part in shaping how power generation infrastructure is designed and delivered across remote communities in Western Australia.

Working within our Remote Communities division, you’ll be the technical expert driving the design, development and delivery of cutting edge hybrid renewable power infrastructure - ensuring solutions are practical, scalable and fit for purpose in some of the most remote and logistically complex environments in the state.

This role goes beyond coordination - you’ll own the technical elements of projects, contributing to the on-going refinement of standard designs, guiding engineering decisions and ensuring projects are set up for long term operational success. You’ll play a critical role in transforming how Horizon Power develops and delivers energy solutions for remote communities.

The opportunity

• Lead engineering decision-making across the full project lifecycle, from early development through to delivery, commissioning and handover.
• Drive fit-for-purpose designs, ensuring solutions are safe, constructable, maintainable and optimised for remote operating conditions.
• Own technical assurance, ensuring designs are safe, constructable, operable and aligned to long term operational needs.
• Act as the technical escalation point, resolving complex issues and guiding critical decisions across development and delivery phases.
• Support investment and procurement decisions, providing technical input into business cases, contracting strategies and vendor selection.

About you

You’re a hands-on and pragmatic technical leader who thrives in complex environments, takes ownership of outcomes, challenging assumptions, and driving technically sound, practical solutions.

You will bring:

• Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred but not essential) with strong experience in remote hybrid power systems.
• Proven capability across the full project lifecycle—development, FEED, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Demonstrated experience in technical leadership, design assurance and engineering governance
• Ability to balance technical rigour with practical delivery, ensuring outcomes are both robust and achievable
• Experience influencing design, procurement and technical decision making outcomes.
• A proactive, solutions focused mindset with the confidence to lead the technical space and drive outcomes.
• You are a confident communicator, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We’re seeking someone who can confidently lead engineering decisions end-to-end - whether in design reviews, on site resolving delivery issues, or supporting investment and procurement outcomes.
