Western Private Hospital, located in Footscray, is a 62-bed private acute hospital and is the longest serving private hospital in Melbourne’s west providing much needed services to the people in the expanding North West and Western regions of Melbourne and surrounding areas.
WPH’s facilities include four Operating Theatres, CSSD, Day Procedure Unit, Overnight Ward for CCU, HDU & Surgical patients, Day Oncology Unit, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Specialist Consulting Suites, Nuclear Medicine/PET Centre and supported by pathology, pharmacy, radiology and radiation therapy services.

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and oncology‑trained Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering exceptional cancer care to join our dedicated team in the Day Oncology Unit.
Our fast‑paced unit features 6 day recliners and supports a dynamic flow of patients. We provide a wide range of treatments, including:
Chemotherapy and immunotherapy for patients with cancer
Supportive therapies such as blood products, iron infusions, and other non‑malignant infusion treatments
Specialised bladder cancer therapies , including Bacille Calmette‑Guérin (BCG) and intravesical chemotherapy for early‑stage, non‑muscle invasive bladder cancer
As a key member of our clinical team, you will deliver evidence‑based, patient‑centred nursing care , including:
Comprehensive assessment and monitoring of patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and infusion therapies
Education and support for patients and carers to assist with treatment understanding, symptom management, recovery, rehabilitation, or end‑of‑life needs
Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in cancer care
This is a permanent part‑time position (0.4 FTE) , working Monday to Friday , within a passionate and supportive team environment.
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate proven clinical proficiency in Oncology and Haematology nursing, including comprehensive patient assessment, delivery of treatments, and adherence to established protocols. They will be confident and capable in developing, implementing, and maintaining high standards of care within the unit.
A key requirement is the ability to individualise patient care and respond sensitively and effectively to the needs of patients and their families. Compassion, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence are essential to thriving in this role.
Selection Criteria
AHPRA Registered Nurse (Division 1) with full, current registration and a strong commitment to evidence‑based practice.
Over three years of specialised Oncology and Haematology nursing experience , providing high‑quality care across acute, ambulatory, and treatment‑based settings.
Current ADAC certification (eviQ or Peter Mac), ensuring safe and compliant administration of anti‑cancer therapies.
Demonstrated competence in administering cytotoxic chemotherapy and related cancer treatments , with a strong safety focus and adherence to clinical protocols.
Advanced vascular access skills , including PICC and PORT management and IV cannulation, performed confidently and independently.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a small, supportive multidisciplinary team, while also functioning autonomously with sound clinical judgement.
BCG and intravesicular nursing experience highly regarded.
Strong critical thinking and decisive problem‑solving skills, essential for managing complex patient presentations and rapidly changing clinical situations.
Highly organised, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise competing demands, and manage time effectively in fast‑paced environments.
High level of computer literacy, including electronic medical records, clinical documentation systems, and digital communication tools.

Requirements

Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 6 months, a current Working With Children Check and evidence of Australian Residency / Full Working Rights such as Australian passport, birth certificate, citizenship or VEVO/Visa Grant Details (No Sponsorship available)
Must have yearly Influenza vaccination (subject to reasonable exemptions per WPH policy) and provide proof of immunisation against, or immunity to, infectious diseases as required per the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic) – NOTE: for this role immunisation requirements associated with Risk Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)
