IT Project Manager

Red Apple IT

12-Month Contract with possible extension Hobart (On Site) + Travel Around Tasmania

Like getting involved at the start of a project instead of inheriting someone else's mess?

This is one of those opportunities.

You'll join right at the beginning of a business-critical cyber security program, giving you the chance to help shape the project rather than spending six months untangling decisions that have already been made.

If you enjoy building momentum, working closely with the business, and getting projects moving, you'll enjoy this one.

What you'll get

You'll be leading a high-profile cyber security project from day one, working closely with technical teams and stakeholders across the business.

Because you'll be involved from the start, you'll have genuine input into how the project is planned and delivered—not just asked to keep someone else's project on the rails.

You'll also get out from behind the desk. While you'll be based in Hobart, you'll spend some time travelling to sites in Devonport and Burnie, building relationships with the people who'll ultimately use the solution. If you believe good projects are built by talking to people rather than sitting in Teams meetings all day, you'll appreciate that.

What you'll be doing

You'll own the delivery of the project from planning through to execution, working with technical teams, business stakeholders and vendors to keep everything moving.

And here's something worth knowing...

At this stage there isn't a dedicated Business Analyst on the project.

There may be one later. There may not.

So you'll need to be comfortable rolling your sleeves up and jumping into the business analysis when required. Facilitating workshops, gathering requirements, documenting outcomes and helping move the project forward.

This isn't the role for someone who says, "That's not my job."

It's for someone who enjoys doing whatever it takes to get the project delivered.

You'll probably suit this role if you...

Have delivered IT projects from end to end.

Can build trust with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Enjoy running workshops and teasing out requirements when needed.

Stay calm when priorities change.

And don't mind wearing a couple of hats if it helps get the outcome.

Cyber security experience would certainly help, but strong project delivery skills and the ability to work across both project management and business analysis are more important.
