The U.S. Embassy in Canberra is seeking a skilled Procurement Agent to join our team and support the delivery of effective procurement solutions for mission operations.

The Procurement Agent is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities, ensuring purchases are conducted efficiently, ethically, and in accordance with applicable U.S. Government procurement regulations. This includes managing procurement processes for purchases under $350,000 USD and overseeing transactions up to $25,000 USD through the U.S. Government Purchase Card Program.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, you’ll play an important role in supporting operational requirements, maintaining compliance, and achieving value through effective procurement practices.

Duties

  • Managing procurement activities from requirement identification through to completion
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Department of State Acquisition Manual, and applicable policies
  • Supporting mission operations through timely and effective procurement solutions
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver purchasing outcomes

Skills and Experience

Applicants must have:

  • Five (5) years of experience in procurement and contracting plus Completion of High School (Year 12), or
  • Three (3) years of experience in procurement and contracting plus college-level studies in management, administration, business, or finance.

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of Australian and/or international supplier markets, competitive bidding processes, and vendor selection criteria.
  • A current and valid Australian driver’s license
