Being in a business support role at Australia Post means helping our people deliver for every Australian. Just like our Posties, you’re still the people behind every parcel. You’ll find a culture of connection in our great people and the flexibility to balance work with life outside of it.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Commercial & Insights Manager, the Senior Commercial Modelling Analyst is the primary financial modelling specialist within Commercial Finance – Retail Services. You will design, develop, and maintain complex financial models that underpin and inform key strategic decisions across a national network. Working closely with stakeholders across Operations and Finance, you will convert complex operational drivers into structured, model ready inputs and ensure all modelling outputs are commercially robust, aligned to the Post30 strategy, and responsive to evolving business needs.
You’ll also
- Build and maintain complex financial models to support retail network transformation and key commercial decisions ensuring outputs are robust, auditable, and decision-ready for senior leadership and inputs into Board papers.
- Develop bespoke financial models for new strategic initiatives as they emerge, ensuring commercial rigour and alignment with enterprise financial frameworks.
- Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate operational assumptions into robust financial scenarios and provide modelling insights that shape and improve strategic recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement in modelling capability and accuracy through automation, standardisation and advanced analytics, leveraging advanced Excel techniques and data tools (Power BI, SAP, TM1).
About you
You are an experienced financial modelling professional with a strong background in corporate modelling and a track record of owning complex models end-to-end. You bring advanced Excel and BI skills, with the ability to translate detailed financial outputs into clear, actionable insights. You are confident in communicating with stakeholders, using PowerPoint to present assumptions, scenarios, and recommendations in a compelling way, and can effectively tell the commercial story behind the numbers.
You’ll also
- Have a strong background in financial modelling with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in commercial analysis, consulting or FP&A within large, complex organisations with demonstrable ownership of enterprise-scale financial models.
- Proven ability to build and own dynamic, complex scenario-based models that support complex executive and Board-level decision-making.
- Highly commercial mindset, with an ability to move beyond the numbers into insights and action.
- Experience in retail, logistics, postal, or similarly scaled service environments, with exposure to network economics, commission/franchise modelling, or transformation program financials.
- Experience with data visualisation and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau) and enterprise planning systems (TM1/Planning Analytics, SAP).
What else is in it for you?
- Bring your whole self to work every day and be met by a welcoming bunch of people who respect and support you
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, like the opportunity to work from home two days per week
- Opportunities for growth and development through formal programs or mentorship
- Exclusive team member discounts and offers for more cash in your pocket, evolving policies for flexible working, leave types and access to health and wellbeing resources
All walks, one route
It takes a lot of us to deliver for every Australian – and it’s important to us that our people behind the parcels reflect the people receiving them. We come from all walks. Different backgrounds, different ages, different genders, different sexualities and different abilities, but we all believe in the same purpose.
We welcome people all ages, genders and backgrounds – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, LGBTQIA+ communities, and refugees. We’re a Disability Confident Recruiter, committed to making our hiring process and workplace inclusive and barrier-free. We’re also working hard to remove bias and build a gender-equitable experience for everyone who joins us.
